Vaughan Encourages Nominations for St Davids Awards

Cardiff South and Penarth Assembly Member Vaughan Gething is encouraging local people to put forward nominations for the next St David’s Awards.

The Awards, now in their seventh year were created to recognise the great achievements, deeds and extraordinary contributions made by people from all walks of life across Wales and abroad. This year there are nine categories Bravery, Culture, Enterprise, Innovation and Technology, Sport, Young Person, the First Minister’s Special Award and the 2 new categories – the St David Humanitarian Award and the Community Spirit Award. You can nominate friends, members of your family, colleagues or even a public figure.

Nominations are now open and close on 17th October 2019. The finalists in each category will be announced on 13th February 2020, with the awards being presented at a celebratory dinner at the Senedd on 19th March.

Vaughan said: “The Awards are an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the fantastic achievements and contributions made by people in our communities – our everyday heroes. I’d like to encourage as many people as possible to nominate our local champions so that they get the recognition that they deserve”.
