Cardiff South and Penarth Assembly Member Vaughan Gething was delighted to recently attend the film premiere of the Forget Me Not Chorus. The Forget Me Not Chorus is a Cardiff & Newport based charity which support people with dementia and their carers through weekly singing sessions.
The film showcases the fantastic work that the charity does in supporting people with dementia. Each week the forty to seventy strong choir meet to sing, rehearse and have fun. The charity has five choirs in Cardiff and Newport, with one based in Penarth.
Vaughan Gething said: “The Forget Me Not chorus movement has made a real difference to the lives of individuals, families and carers. The triggering of memories and the sheer pleasure that singing and music can give is uplifting to see and hear.
The Forget Me Not chorus has also helped to promote a kinder and more understanding national conversation about the dementia challenges that face as a society. It’s entirely appropriate that the film promoting the impact this has, takes place in Dementia Awareness Week.”
