AM Welcomes £3.7million to Regenerate Welsh Communities

Grangetown is set to benefit from a £3.7m investment by the Welsh Labour led Government. Cardiff South and Penarth Assembly Member Vaughan Gething has welcomed the recent Welsh Government decision to invest £3.7million to regenerate communities across Wales.

Grangetown is set to benefit by £200 000 from the £3.7million fund for twenty three regeneration projects across twelve local authorities and help to create or safeguard more than 80 new jobs, 20 traineeships and over 80 new homes. As well as improving important local services and facilities, the funding will create jobs and traineeships, boost the housing supply and create environments in which small businesses can flourish.

The money from the Vibrant and Viable Places programme is a mixture of newly allocated funding and the reallocation of underspent funds from other projects.

Vaughan Gething said: “I am delighted that Grangetown will benefit directly from this funding, with £200,000 being given for the development of business premises in the area.

This funding boost should make a very real difference and benefit the whole community”.

Cllr Lynda Thorne said: “This investment will be welcomed by the local community as it will be a real boost to Grangetown. Investing in our community is our top priority as it leads to real improvements in people’s lives”
