Welsh Government Announce Consultation on Proposals to Remove the Defence of Reasonable Punishment

At present it is against the law for a parent or carer to smack their child, except where this amounts to ‘reasonable punishment’ (section 58 Children Act 2004). LABOUR WILL PUT MORE THAN 800 MORE POLICE OFFICERS ON THE STREETS IN WALES

Labour is committed to providing funding to the 43 forces across England and Wales to hire an extra 10,000 officers operating in community policing roles. In Wales, this will mean at least 853 new police officers, one for every electoral ward in the country, which will be funded by reversing cuts to Capital Gains Tax.

£422k awarded to Credit Unions across Wales

Communities and Children Secretary, Carl Sargeant has announced £422,334 for credit unions across Wales during 2017-18. The funding will help credit unions continue to support financially excluded members as well as help their longer term sustainability.
