The Welsh Government has announced further funding to help support local authorities with additional financial pressures. It will help cover increased costs, manage loss of income pressures, and will fund additional cleaning requirements for schools in response to the coronavirus crisis.
The £264 million announcement means that over £490 million has been made available to local authorities to support them throughout the coronavirus pandemic.
Vaughan Gething MS said:
“Our local councils have done an amazing job at keeping vital services running during the pandemic – but we know they’ve faced financial pressures.
I would like to say thank you to staff at Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan Councils for all their hard work in supporting our residents during this challenging time.”
